A world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Habitat builds houses and also improves homes. The process for requesting help with home repairs is usually the same as the application process to purchase a Habitat house.

DIRECT REQUEST FOR SUPPORT
Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity relies on financial support from the general public. Besides monetary donations, people can donate new items for building a house.
Habitat homeowners receive financial education, they help build their homes, and they pay a mortgage. They also pay for their home taxes and for their homeowner’s insurance.
Business is conducted by a Board of Directors made up of unpaid volunteers. House construction and renovation is done by families partnering with Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity. Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity also relies on volunteers who work under the direction of our Responsible Managing Individual (RMI). Other professional builders also help construct the homes. These professionals may donate part of their time. All building materials for our projects are purchased by Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity unless building materials are donated.
A Habitat home is a stabilizing force for a family and for their larger neighborhoods and communities. Habitat families are able to make solid plans for their future when they are secure in their own home.
A Habitat home as a strong foundation for a family, and an opportunity on which they can build a better life.
